Developed by Peter King PhD in association with Babette Rothschild, this one day workshop introduces participants to a Trauma Informed Care approach using Stabilisation Based Therapy and Somatic Trauma Therapy.
In this workshop, our facilitator explores Babette Rothschild’s: 8 Keys to Safe Trauma Recovery as described in her book which is published as an adjunct to self-help and professional recovery programs. The goal is to expand an attendees mind and toolbox for increasing stability, maintaining stability and reducing the risks associated with making things worse for individuals with trauma histories! The workshop provides a range of ‘Take-Care’ strategies to empower healing with an individual’s safety and needs in mind!
- mindfully identify what is helpful,
- recognising an individual’s survival
- having the option to not remember the trauma
- stopping flashbacks and dissociation
- understanding and sharing shame,
- finding recovery pace;
- mobilising body;
- find meaning in recovery.
Who should attend?
This workshops is suitable for the experienced clinician or clinicians seeking to obtain an introduction to DBT. Individuals from a range of professional backgrounds who work in community-based services, including youth, family, homeless, aged, welfare, alcohol and substance, mental health, and disability. Psychologists, Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers, Mental Health OTs, and Psychiatrists have all found this workshop useful!
